Snow Assistants

Newly elected Councilman Victor Alberigi along with friend and resident William Toms helped out our overwhelmed DPW Crew with shoveling the Borough Building's steps and entrance today. Our DPW crew was on the scene until late Thursday evening and then again starting at 4:00 a.m. Friday trying to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles. Thank you to residents who opted to stay home and be safe. We had some major issues getting plows through the Borough with a few vehicles stuck and blocking roads. In several instances we had Crews stuck in traffic at overtime rates not being able to move! After spending an hour or two travelling in a plow truck today, I have this to say, "It is VERY difficult to plow streets!"  Thanks to everyone for clearing fire hydrants, side walks and being considerate of our great DPW Crew.

Alert! **********UPDATE************Alert!

Friday, February 26 -  Lakeland Sanitation will pick up Refuse and Recyling Saturday. Trucks will be coming through VERY EARLY. Please put containers out Friday evening as late as possible. Make sure your receptacles are visable and placed away from passing snow plows. Landfills close at 11:00 a.m. so it is necessary for an early pickup. Put your trash in your cleared driveway - not on the street!

We have contracted additional help for clearing snow banks. Limit driving whenever possible in snow conditions. Our DPW crews are having difficulties keeping roads clear for emergency vehicles due to disabled vehicles. Please allow plows access at intersections.  Enjoy the snow! Thank you!
