Although tree funds are limited, there are opportunities for residents to secure trees for Borough right-of-way placement this spring. Orders must be placed by the third week in February, however. Trees will be delivered in April. We are still looking for volunteers for the Shade Tree Committee to assist with planting, ordering, and grant writing. Call the office at 586-4446 and leave your contact information.

Volunteers Needed for Shade Tree Committee
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 06 January 2010

Our former Chairman of the Shade Tree Committee has stepped down after 13 years of dedicated service. John Earley, Esq., tendered his resignation to out going Council President Pat Conaboy in December. Mr. Earley was instrumental in securing funding for pruning, diseased tree removal and hundreds of new trees that were planted in the Borough. His unwavering support for the Shade Tree Committee will be sorely missed and he leaves big shoes to fill. Council is looking for active volunteers to assist in grant writing, site selection for tree plantings, Arbor Day Celebration planning, and tree plantings. Please call 586-4446 to volunteer or email Marie King, Council President, at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Corrugated Recycling
Written by Melissa Jones
Tuesday, 02 June 2009

There is a dumpster in the back of the Clarks Green Borough Building designated solely for the recycling of corrugated/cardboard.  You can access the dumpster from the rear on Clark Street or through the parking lot from 104 No. Abington Road.  The dumpster is located between the sheds. Cardboard that is thrown out on trash day will go directly to the landfill while cardboard placed in this dumpster will be taken to the Lackawanna County Recycling Center.

Please make sure that your cardboard is clean of all debris.  Lakeland Sanitation will accept any type of cardboard in this dumpster as long as there is no food, plastic or other material attached to it. No pizza boxes! Clarks Green receives annual recycling grants based on the weight of recycled items.  Filling up the cardboard dumpster helps tremendously.   We encourage all residents to use this dumpster.
